I wrote the lyrics to this song about working in locked psychiatric care with kids. In our reports we referred to having to restrain a kid as a "restrictive intervention" The song is written from the point of view of the kid in that situation. A lot of times kids would act out in a way that, by protocol, required us to restrain them. This song is about that. Almost 10 years after I wrote it, I realize it's also about me.
lyrics
I will
I will
I will
smash my head
against that wall
if you let me go
I will destroy
everything we've
built til now.
Can't you see
I need your hands
around my wrists to
hold me down
I know that I can be
a monster sometimes
but I know you can see
through me and keep me
safe because
I
hate
myself
so
much I
could
die.
